The NFL has handed down a six-game suspension to Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu for violation of the league’s personal conduct policy. The suspension comes after Omenihu was arrested in January for alleged domestic violenceaccording to The Mercury News.

“Police officers were called to Omenihu’s home in the 300 block of Santana Row at 4:39 p.m. for a report of domestic violence,” Robert Salonga wrote. “Upon arriving, a woman told officers that Omenihu is her boyfriend and that he ‘pushed her to the ground during an argument.’

“A police news release stated that the woman complained of arm pain but that ‘officers did not observe any visible physical injuries,’ and that she declined medical attention.”

The report stated Omenihu was on location when officers arrived and gave a statement when he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence. Omenihu also faced a misdemeanor for allegedly obstructing the use of a cell phone to prevent the alleged victim from notifying law enforcement.

The former Texas Longhorns defender was drafted in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He played four seasons at Texas.

Omenihu played the 2022 season with the San Francisco 49ers before signing a two-year deal with the Chiefs in March. He signed for $16 million. He’ll miss the Chiefs’ first six games, which are against the Lions, Jaguars, Bears, Jets, Vikings and Broncos.

Omenihu was First-Team All-Big 12 in 2019 and was the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year.

NFL gives Alvin Kamara three-game suspension

The NFL is also suspending New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara for three games for violating the team’s personal conduct policy, according to Adam Schefter.

Kamara was involved in a fight in Las Vegas in 2022 that initially resulted in a felony charge. The running back agreed to a plea deal last month, days before his trial was scheduled to start in Clark County.

He was sentenced to 30 hours of community service and agreed to pay for the victim’s medical expenses, which totaled more than $105,000. He also settled a lawsuit filed by the victim.
