After firing Matt Rhule, the Carolina Panthers could be due for a bevy of fascinating changes moving forward, including trading wide receiver Robbie Anderson.

Anderson, who joined the Panthers after spending time with the New York Jets and playing for Rhule at Temple in college, could be on his way out of Carolina, according to FOX’s Jay Glazer.

“Teams called the Carolina Panthers hoping that there’s going to be a fire-sale, especially with a lot of those young defensive players. That’s not the case, they’re not looking to trade those guys,” reported Glazer. “However, they are shopping Robbie Anderson, and yes they are willing to trade Christian McCaffrey in the right deal. I do think the market heats up here for Christian McCaffrey in the next two weeks.”

On the season thus far, Anderson hasn’t been able to find his footing, amassing just 13 receptions for 206 receiving yards and one touchdown.

While the former Temple star found a nice level of success in Carolina since joining the team prior to the 2020 season, his time with the franchise could be coming to an end if reports are true.

Carolina Panthers listening to trade offers on Christian McCaffrey

Moreover, perhaps the more interesting name than Robbie Anderson is that the Panthers are also opening up their phone lines and listening to trade offers for players on star running back Christian McCaffrey.

The news of Carolina entertaining offers for McCaffrey might be unsettling for some fans, but according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the former Stanford Cardinal will not be moved unless they are presented with a significant offer for him.

“Although the Panthers have been listening, it hardly means they are dealing McCaffrey. If the Panthers do not receive what they feel is a real offer — with a high draft pick or multiple picks — they are adamant that they will hold on to McCaffrey past the NFL’s Nov. 1 trade deadline, sources told ESPN,” wrote Schefter.

The Panthers appear to have shift direction after initial reporting stated they weren’t listening to calls on McCaffrey.

The Panthers’ request for a high draft pick or multiple draft picks is more than reasonable, given the level of production McCaffrey has when on the field. Couple that with Carolina only retaining four of their seven picks in the 2022 draft, and the move makes even more sense for the franchise.

Alas, McCaffrey isn’t the only player Carolina seems to have little interest in trading. Along with him, defensive stars Derrick Brown and Brian Burns will be challenging to acquire before the NFL trade deadline.
