Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry hit free agency this offseason, and the former LSU Tigers star decided to return to Louisiana, signing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints. Now, financial details have emerged on Landry’s contract with the Saints.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Landry is signing a one-year deal that can be worth up to $6 million, with a base salary of $3 million.

“The #Saints gave WR Jarvis Landry a 1-year deal with a base value of $3M, source said,” Rapoport tweeted. “He can earn another $3M in incentives, mostly based on individual stats. A good value option for New Orleans, while Landry gets his 1-year deal that allows him to get paid again if he produces.”

Landry began his career with the Miami Dolphins, totaling 400 receptions for 4,038 yards and 22 touchdowns in four seasons. He then joined the Browns in 2018, and posted 288 receptions for 3,560 yards and 15 touchdowns over the past four years.

Overall, Landry has totaled 688 receptions for 7,598 yards and 37 touchdowns in his eight-year NFL career, averaging 11 yards per catch. He also has 40 rushing attempts for 230 yards and five touchdowns.

Landry has a great opportunity for a bounce back season with the Saints

Over the past couple of years, Landry has struggled a bit, and he was limited to 12 games in 2021. He is just two years removed from a 1,174-yard campaign, and he had 840 in 2020. This past season, Landry had 52 catches for 570 yards and two touchdowns.

Landry is still an experienced wide receiver in the NFL, and he can still play at a high level in the right situation at full health. The five-time Pro Bowler has an opportunity to play a lot right away with the Saints.

Last season, Michael Thomas did not play due to injury and the Saints were left without any true top weapons in the passing offense. In addition to signing Landry, the Saints also drafted Chris Olave in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

If Landry plays well, he will be in a position to hit free agency and earn a bigger contract next offseason.
