Dalvin Cook is one of the hottest free agents on the market this offseason, and rightfully so. The entire NFL world is awaiting the four-time Pro Bowl running back’s decision on where next he’ll take his football career.

So far, Cook is weighing his options — but three favorites have emerged. The Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos or the New York Jets, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

“As far as official offers, I’m not 100 percent sure,” Rapoport said Friday on the Pat McAfee Show. “You’re only going to make an official offer if you believe the signing is imminent. I think for Dalvin Cook, it does help for him to wait. Similar to what we said with [DeAndre] Hopkins. Waiting is your friend.

“You can never know what can happen in summer training — is there a need that is created if someone has an injury? Signing now doesn’t help at all, really, but those are three [teams] I would keep an eye on. I think if there were others, we would know about it.”

Cook has been surprisingly transparent about his interest in teams, especially the Miami Dolphins. His list of needs comes down to teams with a winning record, that can stretch the field and run outside zone schemes, which Miami does — Cook’s favorite. He grew up in Miami, too, and trains there regularly each offseason, which doesn’t hurt.

He’s also willing take a production cut if the situation is right.

“I want to go and be the piece that can just help somebody win and get over the hump and whatever that situation comes with, if it comes with me taking less reps, but me being in the perfect situation to hold up that trophy, I don’t mind,” Cook said. “I just wanna go somewhere I can just get the ball and just help somebody win, and turn the next page.”

Before Cook spent six seasons in Minnesota, the former Florida State standout was selected by the Vikings in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s been a star in Minnesota out of the backfield.

Since joining the franchise, Cook has earned four Pro Bowl appearances. He’s rushed for 5,993 yards with 47 touchdowns on the ground, adding 1,794 receiving yards and five scores on 221 catches. Cook still rushed for over 1,000 last season and reached the end zone 10 total times for Minnesota. It marked the fourth-straight year in which he hit the rushing milestone.
