NFL rescinds Week 7 fine on Steelers RB Jaylen Warren for lowering helmet
The NFL has rescinded the Week 7 fine levied against Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6) running back Jaylen Warren for unnecessary roughness, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Warren was originally fined $48,556 for lowering the helmet on a Los Angeles Rams (6-6) defensive player while in pass protection. The league fined him the same amount for a play in September. The NFL reduced that fine to $10,000.
With Warren making $870,000 in base salary this season, each fine represented nearly a week’s worth of pay.
Warren, 24, has emerged as a playmaker for the Steelers in his second season in the NFL. Undrafted out of Oklahoma State, Warren has rushed for 612 yards on 5.6 yards per carry and three touchdowns. He has added 42 receptions for 272 yards through the air.

Warren, like most of his teammates, struggled in the 21-18 Week 14 defeat to the New England Patriots (3-10) Thursday. He totaled just 11 yards on the ground on seven carries and recorded 29 yards on four catches. The Steelers, as a whole, generated just 264 yards of total offense in their first full game this season with Mitch Trubisky under center. Trubisky got the start in place of Kenny Pickett, who underwent successful surgery on his ankle Monday after suffering the injury in the 24-10 Week 13 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals (3-10).
The home crowd at Acrisure Stadium booed Trubisky often, as he completed 22-of-35 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He admitted after the game he feels like he let the team down with his performance.
“It’s understandable,” Trubisky said. “We played like crap in the first half. It is what it is. They are frustrated, we are all frustrated. But we did better in the second half to give us a chance, but I have to play better. That’s the bottom line.”
