Celebrity boxing has been gaining popularity and was even going to bleed into the NFL. Former running backs Le’Veon Bell and Adrian Peterson were scheduled to fight against one another but due to the main event not being able to occur, it will be postponed.

Social Gloves Entertainment made the official announcement on Sunday, saying the July 30 event will be moved to later in the year. Crypto.com was scheduled to host the two football stars box against one another but the world will have to wait.

“Due to the current unavailability of main event fighter Aneson Gib, the Social Gloves: No More Talk boxing event scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at the Crypto.com Arena is being postponed to a later date. Organizers hope the McBroom vs. Gib matchup will still take place and are eyeing early September as the rescheduled date.”

In what would have been an interesting fight between two top-level personalities in the NFL, fans of both Bell and Peterson will need to mark their calendars for September. Neither are currently on a roster and if one, mainly Peterson, possibly wants to play football this season, may have to cancel their fight completely.

Bell last appeared for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2021 season. He played in three games, rushing for 18 yards on eight touches. The best moments of his career came when suiting up for the Pittsburgh Steelers. There, he was named an All-Pro running back twice and named to three Pro Bowls.

For Peterson, he is destined to become an NFL Hall of Famer. He is fifth all-time on the league’s rushing list, going for 14,918 yards. He was trying something new with boxing as he still looks to play in the NFL for the upcoming 2022 season.

There are not many scenarios where Bell and Peterson are going up against one another, with both being running backs. Boxing was one of the rare ones but there will be a slight delay before we get to view the spectacle.
