The Packers are hiring Aaron Hill as their new strength and conditioning coach. Hill had worked on Kyle Shanahan’s staff with the 49ers.

This is all according to The Athletic Matt Schneidman. The Packers have yet to officially announce the hire.

Hill has spent stints in both the NFL and college football. But this will be the first time he’s running his own strength show. He spent the last four seasons as assistant strength coach with the 49ers, working with Dustin Perry.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur fired strength coach Chris Gizzi, who had worked with Green Bay since 2014. He spent the past five years in charge of the strength-conditioning program.

Hill is 32 and is not that far removed from his football career. He played linebacker for the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 2009 to 2013. Then the St. Louis Rams signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2014. Soon after, he took an internship back at Minnesota, then a year later, worked as an intern with the Carolina Panthers.

The Packers switched strength coaches, in part, because several players suffered soft tissue injuries. The injured list included receiver Christian Watson, running back Aaron Jones and cornerback Eric Stokes. Jones got healthy in time to help the Packers earn a playoff spot. Green Bay then upset the Cowboys on the road, then nearly beat the 49ers.
