Two defensive lineman will be out of the lineup for the Dallas Cowboys as they travel to East Rutherford to take on the New York Giants. According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Osa Odighizuwa and Trysten Hill are being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List.

“Cowboys starting DT Osa Odighizuwa has tested positive for COVID-19, source said. The rookie third-round pick will miss Sunday’s game at Giants,” tweeted Gehlken on Saturday. “Cowboys DT Trysten Hill is being placed on Reserve/COVID-19 list, too, source said. So Dallas will be without both Odighizuwa and Hill on its interior D-line Sunday at Giants.”

On the season, Hill has nine tackles as a rotational piece on the Cowboys defense. As for Odighizuwa, he’s accumulated 30 tackles and two sacks throughout his rookie season for Dallas. Additionally, Gehlken added who the Cowboys will look to replace their production.

“Cowboys are expected to activate DT Justin Hamilton from the practice squad as a COVID-19 replacement to mitigate the absences of Osa Odighizuwa and Trysten Hill at Giants,” added Gehlken.

Hamilton has bounced around the league in the past, but has stuck in Dallas over recent season. Since 2019, he’s alternated between the Cowboys active roster and the team’s practice squad. Now, he’s getting another shot at being active on game-day.

More on Dallas Cowboys, Injuries

The Dallas Cowboys received some good news on Friday. Dallas released injury updates on some key starters.

Wide receiver Cedrick Wilson was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday morning, the Cowboys announced. Wilson missed the last two games, but only missed last week’s game against the Washington Football Team because he was placed on the COVID-19 list. He also missed Dallas’ Dec. 2 game against the New Orleans Saints with an ankle injury.

Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is also expected to play this week against the New York Giants as he comes back from a foot injury. Lawrence was limited in practice this week and shed an injury designation, meaning he should be a full go for the second straight week. Last week against Washington, Lawrence had a sack as part of a five-sack effort from the Cowboys defense.

But it’s not all good news for Dallas. Left tackle Tyron Smith has been ruled out for Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury, and running back Tony Pollard is questionable as he works his way back from a foot injury. Pollard missed last week’s game against Washington and said he’d likely be a game-time decision again against the Giants.
