The Pat McAfee Show is know for its notable guests. From Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays to J.J. Watt Wednesdays to Nick Saban Thursdays, the show lands some star power while talking about “happenings in the sports world.”

As this year’s NFL coaching carousel winds down, though, there could be another big fish for McAfee to reel in to join his show. Bill Belichick could find himself sitting out the 2024 season after the Atlanta Falcons opted to hire Raheem Morris as their next head coach. With two job openings, neither of which have been linked to Belichick, it’s not looking like he’ll be back on the sidelines after parting ways with the New England Patriots.

There have been rumors about a possible venture into TV for Belichick, though. If that happens, McAfee promised he’d work to get the six-time Super Bowl champion on the show.

“I will make this promise that if Bill is gonna do TV, ol’ Pat McAfee will be in the running to try to get Bill Belichick to join our program,” McAfee said. “The amount of questions — as soon as I see him. That might be a reason why he doesn’t want it.

“But our group of humans, just never-ending questions to Bill Belichick, who literally knows everything about the NFL. Everything. … And after what we saw on College GameDay, he’s got moxy, too. He’s great on TV.”

McAfee and Belichick seemed to get along well when the coach appeared on GameDay prior to the ArmyNavy game. It showed a new side of Belichick, who came off as an all-business personality during his press conferences over the years. He had a strong camera presence, which perhaps showed he could handle the TV life if he decides to go that route.

Why it doesn’t look like Bill Belichick will coach in 2024

Belichick interviewed with the Falcons twice as they cast a wide net in their search to replace Arthur Smith, and it seemed like he’d end up in Atlanta. However, Morris ended up getting the job, and the Falcons were the only team known to interview Belichick during this cycle.

As a result, he could wind up taking next season off, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that’s a strong possibility with the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks waiting to make their respective hires.

“Bill Belichick, who’s the biggest name out there, the greatest coach of all time, interviewed twice for the Atlanta Falcons job that now is going to Raheem Morris,” Schefter said. “Bill Belichick did not get called by Seattle. He did not, as of date, get called to Washington.

“Could he still enter into those conversations? Conceivably. We’re well on into these coaching searches and, to my knowledge, neither team has called so far. So, that seemingly would indicate that this coaching cycle, as it currently is constituted, will fill up without Bill Belichick getting a head coach [opening].”
