New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones was arrested at Boston’s Logan Airport on weapons charges after two handguns were found in his luggage over the weekend. The 2022 fourth-round draft pick out of Arizona State now has multiple charges against him: Possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of the airport, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

Future ESPN show host Pat McAfee broke down the complexity of the situation on the Pat McAfee Show on Monday, sympathizing with both Jones and Pats fans as the corner faces 2.5 to 20 years for his charges.

After relating the incident to one he had with edibles in his bag at Heathrow International after playing the Jaguars in London, McAfee admitted that forgetting multiple loaded weapons in a bag is not quite on the same level.

“Two guns, is a tough thing to forget that you have in your bag, strictly because of how heavy it would be, and also because you’re going to bump into that when you’re putting something in there. The worst state, one of the worst states, for him to have this happen for. This guy’s career is probably f***ed because of this.

“And I’m incredibly bummed that the NFL is potentially going to lose out on a talent like this guy.”

Jack Jones posts bail in Boston

Jones was able to post bail but he will have an arraignment in East Boston District Court soon.

“What we do know is, it’s going to be tough to say that you forgot when there’s two of them,” McAfee said. “This is going to be a tough case… 2.5 to 20 years… that’s a lot of time in jail especially when you’re in the prime of your athleticism.”

McAfee advocated for a judge to show Jones some leniency if there were no other nefarious circumstances involved with the firearms being in his bag.

Twitter users roast embroiled Pats CB for jab at Ja Morant

Jones took some heavy criticism on social media after his tweet directed toward NBA star Ja Morant went viral after his arrest.

“@JaMorant dumb.. you letting social media and yo pride ruin yo real money,” Jones wrote. “Put them guns down and run that money up. Make one of yo homies sign up for security or concealed carry if you feel like you need it that bad.. but you the bread winner you gotta start acting like it..”

Although Jones’ comments towards Morant seemed like some good-natured advice, folks couldn’t help but pile on in regard to his own responsibility with weapons.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has had two gun-related public incidents but did not get arrested in either instance.

Friday, the league announced that Morant will serve a 25-game suspension to begin the 2023-2024 NBA season. He served an eight-game suspension during the tail end of the 2022-2023 regular season following a flashing of his gun in a Denver nightclub. The second was in the passenger seat of a car. Both were filmed on IG Live.
