It’s the part of Super Bowl week where Patrick Mahomes gets queries about the silliest and most serious of topics.

Mahomes, who will be playing in his fourth Super Bowl this Sunday, has heard them all. But a question asked by a younger reporter prompted Patrick Mahomes to reveal some intimate football details. Like who would the superstar quarterback select for his fantasy football team? The caveat is Mahomes can’t pick a teammate. And there’s another layer to the question. Mahomes can select any receiver whether they’re still playing or not.

So tell us Patrick Mahomes, who ya got?

The throw back pick was Randy Moss. Maybe Mahomes was miffed at Jerry Rice for his 49ers ties. Mahomes also went with former Chief Tyreek Hill. Those two generated a lot of touchdown magic. The surprise is the other receiver. He’s Ja’Marr Chase, aka Joe Burrow’s favorite wideout.

And if you are curious, Mahomes also could not pick Travis Kelce, his favorite target. The Chiefs tight end probably is the best tight end in the game, if it’s not 49ers TE George Kittle. Mahomes went with Rob Gronkowski, who won Super Bowls with the Patriots and Bucs.

Like we said, Patrick Mahomes is playing in his fourth Super Bowl. The 49ers may be the favorite to win Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas. But if Mahomes taps into his playoff magic, he’ll move up on the legend’s list.

The ultimate goal is Tom Brady and his seven Super Bowl victories. But multiple wins puts him in rare air. In 57 Super Bowls, there were 34 starting quarterbacks who won games. Thirty of them are still living. Now, of the 34, 13 earned multiple rings.

After Brady, Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw each have four rings. Troy Aikman won three with the Dallas Cowboys. And like Patrick Mahomes, these quarterbacks have a pair of rings = Bart Starr, Ben Roethlisberger, Bob Griese, Peyton ManningEli Manning, John Elway, Jim Plunkett and Roger Staubach.

“I mean, your goal is to be the best player,” Mahomes told reporters on whether he wants the Brady record.

“I’m not even close to halfway so I haven’t put a lot of thought into it. I mean, your goal is to be the best player that you can be. I know I’m blessed to have a lot of great players around me. And so right now it’s doing whatever I can to beat a great 49ers team and trying to get that third ring. And then if you ask me that question, in like 15 years. I’ll see if I can get close to seven, but seven seems like a long ways away still.”
