Ahead of his first game back in AT&T Stadium since his release from the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott opened up about what it will be like for him on Sunday in Arlington.

“It’s going to be fun. I’m excited to go back to Dallas, a place where I have so much history, my home in the offseason,” Elliott said, via ESPN. “It will be cool to get back in AT&T [Stadium].”

His comments came after he had his best game of the season so far for the Patriots in their win over the struggling Jets. He posted 80 yards on 16 carries in the 15-10 victory.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy reacted to the news that Elliott had signed with the Patriots last month by double-checking his team’s calendar for this season.

“Not looking forward to watching him run against us, that’s for sure,” McCarthy said with a laugh, via Patrik Walker.

“I’m excited for Zeke,” McCarthy added. “Great opportunity. He’s been keeping in touch with all of our guys. He’ll do great there. Play-style alone, I think he’s a really good fit for how they like to play.”

The Cowboys should be especially cautious regarding Elliott in Week 4 after their Week 3 performance against the Cardinals. The Dallas defense gave up 222 rushing yards from just 30 carries by the Cardinals on Sunday. Almost 90 yards came from just two runs by Joshua Dobbs and Rondale Moore.

Despite the threat he poses to them on Sunday, the former Cowboys first-rounder maintains a very close relationship with his old teammates. In the team’s final preseason game against the Raiders, Dak Prescott even wore a No. 15 Ohio State jersey in Elliott’s honor.

Cowboys ‘humbled’ in Week 3 loss

After looking absolutely dominant through the first 2 weeks of the season and outscoring opponents 70-10, the Dallas Cowboys suffered a tough loss on Sunday falling to Arizona 28-16 on Sunday.

Some were regarding Dallas as the best team in the league given their hot start, but conversely, the Arizona Cardinals were regarded by many as the worst team in the league heading into the year. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spoke following the loss and opened up about the expectations for his team.

“Y’all put us on top of the world,” said Prescott. “We knew who we are. In that same sense, I’m sure the media got what it wanted. For us, there hadn’t been but one undefeated team. It sucks, it’s humbling, but to say it’s a wake-up call, we knew we had a lot of adversity and we just didn’t get it done. It just goes back to myself, the offense, in the red zone. We get better there, we win this game. But we’ve got to fix that area, period.”

Prescott finished the game with 249 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He was also sacked twice on the day and under pressure frequently as the team missed three starting offensive linemen. The Cowboys also missed cornerback Trevon Diggs for the first week after he tore his ACL in practice.
