The Eagles have opted to place linebacker Nakobe Dean on IR this week following his Week 9 injury that occurred during the Cowboys game. Dean suffered a Lisfranc injury to his foot, which, after further evaluation, the Eagles have determined will require several weeks to heal.

By going on Injured Reserve, the former Georgia Bulldogs star must miss at least the next four weeks of games. The Eagles have games against the Chiefs, the Bills and the San Francisco 49ers before once again taking on Dallas.

Prior to his injury, Dean came up with a big sack on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, which his alma mater celebrated on social media. He was credited with half a sack on the play, bringing his total to three tackles on the day before his early exit.

This season, Dean only played in five games due to multiple injuries. He has 30 total tackles, 22 solo tackles, two tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. In his career, while playing mostly special teams as a rookie, Dean has 43 total tackles, 31 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.

Dean was a third-round pick out of Georgia in the 2022 NFL Draft (No. 83 overall). While with the Bulldogs, he recorded 168 total tackles, 89 solo tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, eight pass deflections, three forced fumbles and one defensive touchdown.

Eagles lose Dean for minimum of four weeks

Following four weeks of recovery, Dean will be eligible to return to practice at any point. The Eagles can begin his 21-day practice window, but must active him at some point within the 21-day window or he’ll have to remain on IR.

With Dean out, Zach Cunningham and Nicholas Morrow lead the team’s linebackers in snaps this season. The Eagles also have Christian Elliss on the active roster, and Brandon Smith and Ben VanSumeren on the practice squad for additional depth.

Likely waiting until later in the week, the Eagles did not announce a corresponding roster move following the news on Dean. However, safety Justin Evans and center/guard Cam Jurgens are now eligible to return from Injured Reserve.

The Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Monday Night Football action this week. The primetime game is the perfect setting for a ‘Meet the Parents’ moment for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. According to Entertainment Tonight, the Grammy Award winner’s parents, Andrea and Scott Swift, will meet Donna and Ed Kelce for the first time at the Monday Night Football matchup this week.

With Travis Kelce suiting up to play against his brother, Jason, it’s the ideal environment for the two families to come together. Although Swift has very publicly met Donna Kelce on several occasions and Travis met Scott Swift during the bye week in Argentina, the two sets of parents have yet to meet.
