The Philadelphia Eagles have made various roster moves specifically at the linebacker position this week following the injury suffered by starter Nakobe Dean.

According to the Eagles, Dean has been placed on the team’s Injured Reserve after suffering a foot injury in Week 1 versus the New England Patriots. The team has also signed veteran linebacker Nicholas Morrow, promoting him from Philadelphia’s practice squad.

And taking Morrow’s spot on the practice squad is linebacker Rashaan Evans, a five year veteran whose spent time on the Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Falcons throughout his NFL career.

“Eagles LB Nakobe Dean is expected to miss multiple weeks with a foot injury suffered yesterday in their win over the #Patriots, sources say,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared Monday. “It was relatively decent news considering, as no surgery is required — he should be back with plenty of time this season.”

Dean was expected to miss multiple weeks of the season following his Week 1 injury, but placing him on the inured reserve confirms that he’ll miss at least four games this season for the Eagles.

Dean was selected in the third round with the No. 83 overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, recording 13 tackles in his rookie season mainly as a special teams contributor. Last Sunday marked his first career NFL start, logging seven total tackles in 49 defensive snaps before suffering his unfortunate injury in the second half.

Morrow takes his place on the roster after joining the team earlier this year in March. He’s a Division III product from Greenville College, signing with the then-Oakland Raiders in 2017 as an undrafted free agent, becoming the first Greenville player to sign an NFL contract.

He’d spend five seasons with the Raiders as a rotational starter before signing with the Bears in 2022, where he recorded a career-high 116 tackles last season and added an interception to his stat line.

Evans on the other hand joins Philadelphia’s practice squad after spending last season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he also recorded a season high in tackles with 159 on the season.

Prior to his short stint in Atlanta, Evans spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the No. 22 overall pick. Evans has 476 career tackles in his professional career and also secured two national championships during his collegiate playing days at Alabama.
