The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced their four-man 2022 Hall of Honor class, featuring Myron Cope, Sam Davis, Ray Mathews and Heath Miller. The Hall recognized the best of the best who have contributed to the Steelers organization on and off the field.

Cope spent 35 years as a Steelers color commentator for the team through various outlets and played an integral role in the invention of the iconic ‘Terrible Towel’ than every Steelers fan owns. Sam Davis helped the Steelers win four Super Bowls during his tenure blocking for Pittsburgh great Terry Bradshaw, while Mathews spent the entire 1950’s playing for the Steelers in various roles including halfback, wide receiver, defensive end and also returned punts and kicks.

Cope (2008), Davis (2019) and Mathews (2015) have all since died since making their unforgettable contributions to the Steelers organization.

Miller is the most recent Steelers standout to be inducted to the Hall. From 2005-2015, Miller complied 592 receptions for 6,569 yards and 45 touchdowns during his 11-year career with Pittsburgh.

“I was shocked when I got the call,” Miller said, via Steelers.com’s Teresa Varley. “I was shocked and taken aback. It wasn’t expected. It wasn’t even on my mind. My phone rang and I saw the Pittsburgh Steelers on the caller ID and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s weird.’ It was Mr. (Art) Rooney and he told me. To be honest I was just kind of really taken aback and I told him at a loss for words.

“It’s a huge honor. I couldn’t be more grateful and honored to be a part of this Hall of Honor class.”

The 2022 Hall of Honor Class will be honored on Nov. 13 when the team takes on the New Orleans Saints. The Steelers will enshrine the new class with an on-field presentation during the game and honored for their contributions to the franchise.

“The culture here from the top down is based off of hard work,” Miller said about the organization. “For me it was the perfect match. I couldn’t pick a better team to play for. I’m very proud to have been a part of it.”
