Raiders GM Tom Telesco says team has 'no plans' to trade Davante Adams
The Las Vegas Raiders’ 2023 season didn’t go as they hoped but the team isn’t looking to sell the farm after their 8-9 finish. On Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Raiders general manager Tom Telesco opened up about other teams’ interest in star wide receiver Davante Adams and the potential for a possible trade.
According to Telesco, “He’s a Raider.” Adams has three more seasons left on his contract with Las Vegas and they are not interested in letting their top receiver go, even for fair-value compensation.
In late November, news broke that the New York Jets wanted to pursue Adams in the offseason to pair him with his former teammate, Aaron Rodgers. The Raiders ended up picking up a few wins down the stretch, which seemed to satisfy the wideout after some open frustration.
“I’m a human being and I have extremely high standards for myself in this offense,” Adams said in October. “I’m sure people are thinking, ‘They won the game, why is there an issue?’ I mean, you see why it’s an issue. Y’all should know who I am, know what I’m about at this point … when you’re a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses — it’s greatness.
“So when I go out there, I expect to be able to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. That’s my purpose for being here. I’m not here just to hang out; I came here to win and to do it the right way.”
Adams notches fifth 1,000-yard receiving season
The former second-round draft pick had the fifth 1,000-yard receiving season of his career in 2023. Adams hauled in 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns.
After his trade to Las Vegas, the former Packers star signed a five-year, $140 million deal. The Raiders do have a potential out in the contract following the 2024 season.
Rodgers and Adams left the Packers as two of the best players in franchise history. The QB ranks No. 1 in career passing touchdowns (475) and second in total yards (59,055), while the wideout is second in receiving scores (73) and fourth in yardage (8,121).
