The greatest of all-time debate in the game of basketball between LeBron James and Michael Jordan has, and will likely continue to be, one of the most hotly discussed topics in sports history. Both superstars have legendary resumes and plenty of accolades, with James continuing to add to his after completing his 20th NBA season this year.

Recently, legendary rapper Lil Wayne joined Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on the ‘All the Smoke’ podcast and shared who his GOAT is between James, Jordan, and Kobe Bryant. Wayne listed James as his GOAT, followed by Jordan and Bryant, and explained his reasoning behind crowning the King.

“Bron, I don’t know Bron personally so my answer for Bron would be from afar, watching from afar,” Wayne said. “I know for a fact I loved Jordan for the way he f****** always won. As a kid, you don’t know too much about the ins and outs and all the other s*** that we love now in that game that I’m old enough to care about.”

Wayne admitted that in his younger days, he’d get wrapped up in the idea of Jordan being his favorite player, rooting him on, and Jordan never disappointing him. But as he grew, so did his appreciation for winning, thus his appreciation for Jordan’s stint of two three-peat championships for the Chicago Bulls.

“I got old enough to know how hard it is to f****** do it back-to-back-to-back, you know what I mean? So that’s where he got gains his respect with me, and started getting his respect with me to where he’s the greatest,” Wayne said.

But with Wayne’s new appreciation for the difficulty of winning championships came a change of heart once James’ career continued to unfold. James has only won four NBA championships compared to Jordan’s six, but James’ ability to win multiple championships for multiple different teams is what gives him the upper hand over Jordan in Wayne’s world.

“That right there, that’s when I was like regardless, he ain’t got six (championships), I was like but damn he’s done it with three different teams. Ain’t not on one of those m***** teams did he play role two,” Wayne said.

James has won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers and two with the Miami Heat throughout his career, and will look to continue adding rings to his trophy case as he continues his career.

The GOAT debate will likely continue to be polarizing and heavily debated, but Weezy F. Baby has spoken and crowned LeBron James as his king of basketball.
