History was made at NBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis this year, as Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu competed in the first NBA vs. WNBA three-point competition.

Curry edged out Ionescu in a close contest with a 29-26 victory in one of the most exciting events of the night. But former NBA star Reggie Miller made an interesting proposition to up the stakes even more in the unprecedented NBA-WNBA collaboration.

Miller was on the broadcast for the NBA All-Star game on Sunday night and presented an idea that would surely grab the attention of the entire basketball landscape in 2025.

“Let’s get the four best shooters on the planet,” Miller said. “Let’s get Damian Lillard and Steph as a team versus Sabrina and possibly if she decides to come out Caitlin Clark. Who’s another great sharpshooter. How about those two against Steph and Dame? I would love to see that.”

When it comes to three-point shooting, there aren’t four basketball players that can do it quite like the foursome Miller mentioned. Who have all proven throughout their careers that they would be more than built for the groundbreaking three-point contest.

Curry is already regarded by most as the best three-point shooter in NBA history, breaking the career three-pointers made record in December of 2021 and forever changing the game of basketball through his deep range shooting ability from behind the arc.

He’s won two NBA three-point contests in his career and took home a three-point champion belt for his win over Ionsecu on Saturday. But Lillard also won his second straight three-point contest of his career during this year’s All-Star weekend, also ranking No. 5 all-time in career three-pointers made in NBA history.

Ionescu quickly established herself as one of the deadliest three-point shooters in her own right after being selected No. 1 overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft following her storied career at Oregon. Breaking the WNBA single-season record for three-pointers made with 128 on an impressive 44.8% shooting from behind the arc last season.

But despite the shooting prowess of each of those three players, Clark could potentially be the biggest draw of them all in a three-point contest. Fresh off of becoming the all-time leading scorer in women’s college basketball history last Thursday following her 49-point performance against Michigan.

Clark does it all, also becoming the first men’s or women’s basketball player in college basketball history with 3,000 career points and 1,000 assists. But making three-pointers has also become one of her specialties, drawing comparisons to Curry after knocking down 487 three-point shots in her career. Currently third all-time in women’s college basketball history just 51 made threes away from setting a new record.

Clark could return to Iowa for a fifth year with the Hawkeyes. But if she does decide to take her talents to the WNBA following the college season, there’s no question that a three-point contest between herself, Ionescu, Lillard, and Curry would be one for the ages that the entire basketball landscape would have their popcorn ready for.
