One of the best receivers in the NFL is expected to play on Monday Night Football. Despite a shoulder injury, Pro Bowl wideout Davante Adams is expected to play for the Raiders in Monday’s game against the Packers, his former team.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Monday morning that Adams is expected to play. He has been extremely limited in practice since sustaining the injury last week.

“Raiders WR Davante Adams — listed as questionable because of a shoulder injury — is expected to play tonight against the Packers, per sources,” Pelissero reported. “Adams has barely practiced since suffering the injury last weekend. But he’ll get a chance to face his old team.”

Through the first four games of the season, Adams continues to prove he’s one of the best receivers in the league. He has totaled 397 yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions.

Monday marks the first time Adams faces his former team. The receiver suited up for the Packers from 2014-21. Green Bay traded Adams to Las Vegas in the 2022 offseason.

Adams is a six-time Pro Bowl selection and is a two-time NFL touchdown receptions leader. If he’s on the field, he’ll give the Green Bay secondary plenty of trouble.

Jaire Alexander looks forward to battle vs. Davante Adams

Adams facing his former team creates a fun storyline for Monday Night Football this week. And one of the receiver’s former teammates, cornerback Jaire Alexander, welcomes the challenge of battling the All-Pro.

“I wouldn’t say it’s like the Super Bowl or the playoffs, but it’s kinda like that. It is what it is. I can’t miss this matchup with the best,” Alexander said, per USA TODAY. “I circled it way back a few months ago.”

Alexander has also been banged up, missing the last two games with a back injury.

Monday’s matchup does make for an interesting battle between the cornerback and wide receiver. Alexander is already a two-time Pro Bowl selection with the Packers, earning honors in 2020 and 2022.

Adams, who was traded away from Green Bay before the 2022 season, is regarded as one of the best receivers in the NFL today. The six-time Pro Bowler was the league’s leading touchdown receiver in 2020 (18 TDs) and 2022 (14 TDs).

Having experience playing against Adams in practice, Alexander knows what he’s up against.

“It’s pretty evident, he’s the best,” Alexander said. “I could go on and on, but he’s the best, I’m going to leave it at that.”
