The Seahawks are releasing two of their best defenders, with Seattle letting go of both Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs.

Plus, tight end Will Dissly also will be waived.

This is according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The Seahawks are cutting the two players because of financial concerns. Releasing both saves $27.5 million in cap space. The Dissly departure saves $7 million.

Although the Seahawks have not officially confirmed the news, Diggs shared his farewell to Seattle on X, writing, “Forever grateful.”

The former Texas Longhorn standout signed with Seattle back in 2019. Diggs, 31, became a fixture in the Seahawks secondary, earning berths in the Pro Bowl from 2020-2022. His interception in the regular season finale of 2022 helped clinch a playoff spot. He had one year remaining on his contract.

The Seahawks used a ton of draft capital back in 2020 to acquire Adams, who then starred for the Jets. Seattle sent two first-round draft picks and a third-rounder to the Jets for Adams, who is 28. New York used the sixth pick of the 2017 draft to select Adams, the former LSU standout.

Seattle drafted Dissly in 2018. He started at tight end for the past four seasons.

Players can start talking to teams next Monday. The official first day of free agency is March 13.

The Seahawks parted ways with long-time coach Pete Carroll. They hired Mike Macdonald, who had been the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens. Obviously, he will need to sign some safeties. With the departure of Adams and Diggs, Seattle has only Julian Love and Jerrick Reed II left on the roster.
