The situation between Robbie Anderson and the Panthers continues to grow stranger, as the receiver was kicked out of Sunday’s contest against the Rams by Carolina interim coach Steve Wilks.

After Anderson was seen exchanging words with a member of the Carolina staff, Wilks walked over and told him to leave the field. Anderson was escorted to the locker room, clearly irritated as he took his helmet off and turned back to shout again at the Panthers coaching staff.

It wasn’t the first time Sunday that Anderson was seen arguing with Panthers coaches. Earlier in the game, he got up in the face of receivers coach Joe Dailey and was later seen sitting alone on the bench.

At the time of his exit, Anderson didn’t have a catch yet in the matchup. On the season thus far, he hasn’t been able to find his footing. He’s amassed just 13 receptions for 206 receiving yards and one touchdown through five games.

Carolina, which fired coach Matt Rhule last week, ended up losing the game 24-10. It marked their third straight loss as they fell to 1-5 overall on the year.

It will be interesting to see how Steve Wilks handles the Robbie Anderson situation going into next week, as the Panthers await a matchup with Tampa Bay at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday.

Report: Panthers shopping Robbie Anderson

After firing Matt Rhule, the Carolina Panthers could be in for a bevy of fascinating changes moving forward, including trading Robbie Anderson.

Anderson could be on his way out of Carolina, according to FOX’s Jay Glazer. He joined the Panthers after spending time with the New York Jets and playing for Rhule at Temple in college.

“Teams called the Carolina Panthers hoping that there’s going to be a fire-sale, especially with a lot of those young defensive players. That’s not the case, they’re not looking to trade those guys,” reported Glazer. “However, they are shopping Robbie Anderson, and yes they are willing to trade Christian McCaffrey in the right deal. I do think the market heats up here for Christian McCaffrey in the next two weeks.”

While the former Temple star found a nice level of success in Carolina since joining the team prior to the 2020 season, his time with the franchise could be coming to an end if reports are true.
