Following DeShaun Watson‘s season-ending injury this weekend, the Cleveland Browns are looking to shore up their depth at quarterback for the remainder of the season. Seemingly never satisfied to kick back and enjoy his career as an analyst, former Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III threw his hat in the ring for the gig. The Baylor star offered to run it back with the team he played a handful of games for in 2016.

“Deshaun Watson went 14-for-14 in the second half against the Baltimore Ravens… Of those 14 passes, there weren’t really any of them that you would say were $230 million worth passes. All they needed him to do was manage the game…” Griffin said on his podcast.

“Well, guess what? I can do that. I can go out there and manage a game for the Cleveland Browns and help them go on the Super Bowl run that they want to go on.”

In Griffin’s time on the field for the Browns, he had 886 passing yards with a 59.2% completion rate. He tossed two touchdowns and three interceptions in the season that ended with just a single victory. He also had two rushing touchdowns.

Browns GM Andrew Berry told CBS Sports earlier Wednesday that the team will sign a third quarterback “at some point.” Unfortunately for RGIII, there is another veteran quarterback out there garnering interest from Watson’s squad.

Browns working out Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco, the 38-year-old quarterback with a Super Bowl ring, is working out Friday morning in Cleveland as he auditions for a roster spot with the Browns. A report from Cleveland.com said that Flacco will be the only quarterback the Browns will audition this morning.

Flacco hasn’t played a down of football since last season’s finale when he was a fill-in starter with the Jets. If he signs with any team and makes the 53-man roster, he’d be the oldest active quarterback in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers, who will be 40 in early December, had been the oldest to start the season. But he’s now on injured reserve.

Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski already has announced that rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start Sunday against the Steelers in a key AFC North division game. Both teams are tied with 6-3 records and are trying to keep up with the Ravens.

The Browns also can turn to PJ Walker, the journeyman quarterback who has nine starts in his career.
