WATCH: Roger McCreary reacts to being drafted by Tennessee Titans
When the Tennessee Titans selected Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary 35th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft on Friday, he received plenty of cheers, claps and even a standing ovation. But McCreary wasn’t at the draft in Las Vegas, instead holding a small watch party among his close family and friends.
He received plenty of hugs and high fives, and had a smile on his face that only seemed to get bigger. Local TV reporters from Mobile, Alabama, were on had to capture the moment on video, later posting it to Twitter.
McCreary totaled 79 tackles, including 9.0 tackles for loss, and five interceptions for the Tigers as a junior and senior. He received first-team All-SEC honors from the coaches for his efforts and appeared at the Reese’s Senior Bowl this past February.

He is set to join a Titans team coming off of a 12-5 finish this past season, where they lost to Cincinnati in the divisional round of the playoffs. Tennessee made some major changes through the draft, trading receiver AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the No. 18 overall pick and another third-round pick. The Titans then used the No. 18 pick to select Arkansas receiver Treylon Burks, a potential replacement for Brown.
On the second day, the Tennessee Titans of course started off by taking Roger McCreary in the second round. After that, they opened the third round with a selection of Ohio State offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere. All three players will look to make an impact next season as the Titans aim for their fourth straight playoff appearance.
