The Tennessee Titans selected former Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary on Day Two of the 2022 NFL Draft after trading up for Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks on Day One. Under head coach Mike Vrabel, rebuilding the defense has remained a focus over the past few seasons, although only three of their nine picks came on that side this year.

During his introductory player interview, conducted on a video call, Roger McCreary explained his relationship with the Tennessee Titans throughout the draft process and why he hoped they would call his name.

“Yes, I went on a visit to the Titans and I just loved everything about Nashville and everything, just the coaches and everything,” said McCreary. “They talked about their system, and I really feel like I can fit in. And that’s what I was hoping when the pick came, that I would be one of the choices they would call. I was just happy they chose me.”

McCreary totaled 79 tackles, including 9.0 tackles for loss, and five interceptions at Auburn as a junior and senior. He received first-team All-SEC honors from the coaches for his efforts and appeared at the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

McCreary now joins 2021 selections Caleb Farley and Elijah Molden in a young cornerback room which possesses unlimited potential. As the offense continues to ride behind running back Derrick Henry, the defense looks to push the Titans over the edge as a Super Bowl contender.

AJ Brown sends message to Titans fans

AJ Brown did not want to be traded from the Tennessee Titans, but he did not have a choice. While the standout wide receiver came into Thursday night as a part of the Titans’ roster, little did he know that the organization would soon be trading him for more picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

As a surprise to Brown, his Tennessee teammates and Titans fans everywhere, the team ultimately traded the wideout to the Philadelphia Eagles for picks No. 18 and 101 in the draft. Although Tennessee will save money by not having Brown on its roster, it’s not going to be an easy task for the Titans to replace the receiver.

After the news of the trade came out on Thursday night, Brown took to his Twitter account to send a message to Titans fans. The tweet has since been deleted, but Action Network captured a screenshot before it was taken down.

“Tennessee I love you and you will forever be in my heart and I can say this now … THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT,” Brown wrote in the deleted tweet. “But I wish you all the best. Love.”
