Russell Wilson has another suitor other than the Steelers. On Friday, he left the New York area after meeting with the Giants. Then he boarded a plane to Pittsburgh.

First, the Giants portion of a Russell Wilson news day. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the free agent quarterback went to New Jersey, home of the New York Giants, to conduct an “an exploratory meeting” with the Giants.

Then Ian Rapoport of NFL Network shared that Wilson boarded a plane at Newark Airport that was headed to Pittsburgh. Rapoport said that a source saw Wilson snapping photos with fans before he boarded the flight.

And there might be another suitor vying for Russell Wilson. ESPN reported that the Las Vegas Raiders may bring him in for a meeting.

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette broke the news that Wilson is on the Steelers radar. The Broncos are releasing the veteran quarterback next week, but have given him permission to talk to other teams now.

There were two teams involved. The only one identified was the Steelers. Now, we know the Giants are in the game.

Meanwhile, the Broncos acquisition of Russell Wilson two years ago may go down as one of the worst trades in NFL history. The Seahawks shipped Wilson to the Broncos and received five draft picks in return, including a pair of first rounders and two first-second rounders, in addition to three players. Then Denver agreed to give Wilson a guaranteed $242.6 million contract. He won 11 games in Denver in two seasons.

The Broncos have new ownership and a new coach since Wilson arrived in Denver. Last fall, management told Wilson that they wanted to rework a $37 million injury clause. Wilson refused and coach Sean Payton benched the quarterback with two games remaining in the regular season.

Before Denver, Wilson was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He played his first decade with the Seattle Seahawks, taking them to two Super Bowls, with one win. He also made nine Pro Bowls. But the 35-year-ols has struggled to return to his old form.

In Pittsburgh, the Steelers are showing they may be willing to move on from Kenny Pickett, their first round pick from two years ago. He missed the final five games of last season after ankle surgery. He also is the only Steelers quarterback under contract.

Meanwhile, the Giants signed Daniel Jones to bigger contract before last season. But Jones, again, struggled with injuries. Meanwhile, the Raiders also are moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo.
