With how aggressive all of these NASCAR drivers were tonight, it was bound to happen. Ryan Blaney hit the wall and caused the big one at Daytona. It wasn’t actually Blaney’s fault. Christopher Bell pushed Ty Gibbs too hard, he hit Blaney, and then what seemed like the entire field wrecked.

We saw a ton of three-wide racing in this stage. If you wanted great superspeedway racing, you were getting it throughout Stage 2. With how aggressive it was, we knew that a big wreck was lurking around.

Ryan Blaney was leading at the time of the wreck. He hit the wall hard and once he caught his breath, he got out of his car and was done for the night.

Ryan Blaney was visibly shaken after the wreck. It was a nasty hit and it collected a ton of cars. While some of the cars were able to continue after some minor repairs, others went down multiple laps, and more than a handful had to call it a day afterward.

So, another hard hit for Blaney. He took one at Nashville into a concrete barrier. This time, it was thankfully into a SAFER barrier. While that doesn’t make it painless, it does make it better than if it had not been a modern barrier.

Ryan Blaney out early at Daytona

While this is awful for Ryan Blaney, it stinks more for guys like Ty Gibbs. The rookie will not have a chance to win and get his way into the playoffs. This did help Bubba Wallace, who will make the playoffs unless a winless driver ends up taking the checkered flag.

Blaney has that win from Charlotte in his back pocket. All he needs is to get on a hot streak in the playoffs and he can make some real noise. Other drivers have done it in the past. However, this will be a tough battle for Blaney and his team who have failed to find consistency in the 2023 season.

As this race winds down we are going to get all kinds of great moves and some questionable ones. Drivers will have to put it all on the line if they want to make the playoffs. No one is safe and everyone will have to try and make it through the next big wreck that inevitably comes in this race.

After running well, Ryan Blaney is out early at Daytona. Now we have a race that only gets more intense as the laps tick down.
