A court has issued a sentence to New Orleans Saints safety Marcus Maye for a DUI charge that occurred in February 2021.

Per Pro Football Talk, Maye changed his plea from not guilty to no contest. He received a sentence of six months probation and his license will be suspended for that same period of time. The court also requires him to complete 50 hours of community service.

Maye’s attorney, Eric Schwartzreich, issued a brief statement on Tuesday.

“Mr. Maye’s legal saga has come to a conclusion today and he looks forward to focusing on football,” Schwartzreich said, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com.

Initially, Maye faced charges of driving under the influence, DUI/damage to property and person, and leaving the scene of the crash. While he has received his sentence from the court, the NFL could impose further punishment for the defensive back.

Prior to his NFL career, Maye played at Florida from 2013-16. In that four-year stretch he collected 205 tackles, including 6.5 for loss. He was also credited with 16 passes defended, six forced fumbles and five interceptions while with the Gators.
