Not many things are going right in San Antonio at the moment. The Spurs currently find themselves in the middle of the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes with a 9-20 record. A trip to the in-state rival Rockets was on the docket for Monday night, with an interesting development taking place early on.

Former Baylor star Jeremy Sochan has been struggling from the free throw line, shooting just under 46% on the season. Things have gotten bad enough to where new methods are beginning to take place. Sochan took it to the next level, though, by using just one hand.

Taking two normal dribbles on the line during the first quarter, Sochan then used only his right hand to fire away. His first shot bounced off the back side of the rim, while the second was able to go in.

You can watch the entire moment here.

The Spurs drafted Sochan in the first round of the past NBA Draft, going ninth overall. He was not drafted for his gifted offensive talent but still seen as a lottery pick in the league. Other attributes are what will get Sochan further along but getting better from the charity strike will have to happen as well.

Struggling with free throws is nothing new for Sochan, who went through the same problems while in Waco. Despite being named a Big 12 All-Freshman and the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year, Sochan shot 58.9% from the free throw line. He only attempted three a game with Baylor but nonetheless, not great numbers.

Similar numbers have came into the NBA and now, Sochan is pulling out all of the stops to improve. At some point, you would have to think something is going to work at some point.

Until then, it’s fun to see some of the whacky methods.
