The San Francisco 49ers have some tough decisions to make. Do-it-all wide receiver Deebo Samuel is eligible for an extension, as is defensive end Nick Bosa.

The two are huge pieces for the 49ers and big reasons why they appeared in the NFC Championship. Samuel had a team-high 1,405 receiving yards, 395 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Bosa had 15.5 sacks — which ranked fourth in the NFL.

After San Francisco’s season-ending loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship, a reporter asked Bosa about a potential extension. The former Ohio State star didn’t sound too concerned about it at the time.

“I haven’t thought about that,” Bosa said, via 49ersWebzone.com. “I was just trying to finish out the year and have a great year. That’s definitely something for down the road to think about.”

The 49ers drafted Bosa No. 2 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and he signed a four-year deal. Now with one year left on his deal, San Francisco has to decide the next steps to keep their star pass rusher in town.

San Francisco saw its season come to an end against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship over the weekend. The Rams now head to Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals on Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium.

Deebo Samuel sends message to 49ers fans following NFC title game loss

San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Deebo Samuel took to Instagram following his team’s 20-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams to let his fan base know that this was only the beginning.

“Came up short… we definitely will be [back]… real brotherhood… love y’all boys faithful,” Samuel wrote.

Samuel was seen visibly emotional after the loss Sunday night. Rams receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was seen consoling Samuel, who remained sitting on the beach for several minutes following the game’s conclusion.

The South Carolina product left it all out on the field this postseason, finishing with 10 receptions for 154 yards and one touchdown. He also carried the ball 27 times for 137 yards and another score.

He finished Sunday’s loss with 98 all-purpose yards, including a 44-yard reception the went the distance in the second quarter. In three postseason games, he had 37 touches for 291 yards and two touchdowns from scrimmage and four kickoff returns for 85 yards.

Samuel finished the 2021 regular season with 77 receptions for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns. He also took 59 carries for 365 yards and eight touchdowns and three kickoff returns for at least 75 yards.
