Seattle Seahawks (3-1) safety Jamal Adams is set to make his return in the Week 6 road tilt against the Cincinnati Bengals (2-3) Sunday.

Adams, who suffered a concussion in the 24-3 Week 4 win over the New York Giants, cleared concussion protocol Wednesday, head coach Pete Carroll said.

“I’m really excited for him to get back going again,” Carroll said, via the team’s website. “He really had fun in the preparation, and I know he was jacked about being out there, and it just didn’t last long enough.”

The “Monday Night Football” game against the Giants was Adams’ first game back after tearing his left quadriceps tendon in last season’s opener. On the opening drive of the game, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones attempted to scramble for the first down. Adams made the first down-stopping tackle but struggled to get back up to his feet and needed help getting off the field. The 27-year-old took a knee to the head and appeared dazed afterward.

Jamal Adams issues apology to independent concussion doctor after sideline outburst

After exiting the blue medical tent, Adams yelled at the independent concussion doctor appointed by the NFL and NFLPA on the sideline. After the league contemplated disciplining Adams for the outburst, he issued an apology on X.

“First and foremost, I want to apologize to the OG,” Adams wrote. “You did everything right when you realized I was concussed. I apologize for any negative energy I brought your way. Watching the replay, I am thankful for your patience knowing I wasn’t myself in that moment. You’re a real one and you serve a great purpose that benefits the NFL and so many players. Prioritizing player’s health is essential. Much respect to you!”

Adams recorded two tackles before suffering the concussion. Adams, who missed just two games over three seasons with the New York Jets, entered the game having missed 28-of-53 possible regular season games since the Seahawks acquired him via trade in 2020.

In just 12 games that season, he recorded 9.5 sacks — an NFL record for a defensive back in a single season. He failed to notch a single sack in 2021, missing out on Pro Bowl honors for the first time since his rookie season.
