DK Metcalf called out Tyreek Hill, Wednesday, for not agreeing to race. The Seahawk star told his Dolphins counterpart that if you really are the fastest player in the NFL, prove it.

“Whenever you want to do that, hop on a track, let me know,” Metcalf said during an appearance on “The Undisputed,” the show hosted by Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe on Fox Sports 1.

Of course, Sharpe pushed Metcalf into some of the braggadocio. But truthfully, wouldn’t it be fun to see them race? We’re not sure if either is the fastest in the NFL, but when you’re making a list of the speedy guys, they’re on it.

Metcalf explained how long he’s tried to organize a race. Maybe it’s a 100 meters during outdoor season or a quick 60 indoors. Probably doesn’t matter.

“My people reached out to his people, just couldn’t come to an agreement,” Metcalf said. “We’ve been trying to come to an agreement for two years now.”

Then Sharpe told Metcalf to look into the camera and deliver the message.

“We’ve been trying to come to an agreement for two years now. It just hasn’t worked out,” DK Metcalf said of Tyreek Hill. “You’ve seen me running in a track meet. I didn’t run against any 30 year olds. I raced against some real track and field athletes.”

Ouch. Here’s the back story on that one. Back in March, Hill won a national title, but we’re going to write that with a caveat. The race was the 60 meters, 25 to 29-year-old age category, at the U.S. Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships in Louisville.

Hill, at 29, was the oldest of the competitors. But he had the better athletic pedigree. Running in lane six, he posted a time of 6.70 seconds. Runner-up Dainen Brass ran a in 7.27. The time difference is akin to a 50-point blowout in a football game.

Metcalf dabbled in pro track two years ago. But unlike Hill, he ran against the elite in the USATF Golden Games in San Francisco. OK, so he finished last in a nine-man field. He ran a respectable 10.37 in the 100 meters. And at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, he’s also far bigger than most elite sprinters.

DK Metcalf said the last time he heard from Tyreek Hill about a potential race, the Dolphin wanted to run in July. That was too close to the opening of NFL training camps. Who wants to pull a hamstring in an ego race?

Hill either saw Metcalf on “Undisputed” or heard about the Wednesday show. He was quick with a Twitter comeback.

“Hold him in the studio till I get there,” Hill tweeted. “He John Cena Jr.”
