Seattle Seahawks quarterback arrested on suspicion of DUI
The Seattle Seahawks had one of their quarterbacks arrested on Monday morning under suspicion of driving under the influence after the team’s win in Arizona. Backup quarterback Geno Smith was arrested at 2:10 a.m. by the Washington State Patrol and released later that morning.

Following Seattle’s season-ending victory over the Arizona Cardinals, Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence.
“Geno is fully cooperative with the investigation. I hope that an open mind can be kept by all as the facts are ascertained,” Smith’s attorney Jon Fox said in a statement.
Smith has spent three seasons with the Seahawks and was the go-to replacement for Russell Wilson this season when he was out due to finger surgery. Smith’s 2021 season saw him throw for 702 yards and five touchdowns and only one interception.
The eight-year veteran from West Virginia began his career with the New York Jets after being drafted in the second round. Smith is currently finishing a one-year contract with Seattle and will be a free agent for the 2022 NFL season.
Seattle players stay with Quandre Diggs in hospital
Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs stayed in an Arizona hospital overnight with a dislocated ankle and broken fibula, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The former Texas star was carted off the field during the Week 18 win over divisional rival Arizona Cardinals, a win the team finished off for their injured teammate in a contract year.
“Guys just love this guy,” Carroll said, via 710 ESPN Seattle’s Stacy Jo Rost. “They finished for him.”
In addition to Quandre Diggs, Pete Carroll announced that teammate Tyler Lockett and a few other team members would remain with him instead of flying back to Seattle with the rest of the team.
Although it has been a difficult season for the Seahawks with a number of injuries and tough losses, the show of support for a fallen teammate ends the year with a position image of team comradery.
