The Seattle Seahawks lost a bunch of key veterans over the offseason, and in their season opener, they might have lost another one. In the second quarter of the Seahawks’ Monday night matchup against the Denver Broncos, Seattle’s star safety Jamal Adams was seen heading into the blue medical tent. And instead of him walking out under his own power, the team’s medical cart had to be brought in to take him back to the locker room. According to ESPN’s Lisa Salters, Adams suffered a knee injury and is doubtful to return to the game.

“He’s officially doubtful with a left knee injury,” Salters said. “He’s putting no weight on that left leg as he hobbled off the field. They got him into the medical tent and then they brought the cart over. You could tell they were trying to keep that left leg straight, trying to keep it from bending. Jamaal looked to be in quite a bit of discomfort and at one point, everyone on this side of the field could hear him scream out in frustration. So we don’t have an official diagnosis but it does not look good.”

The injury appeared to happen on third and 12 for the Broncos early in the second quarter. Adams comes down on a safety blitz disrupting the Broncos’ play and hitting former teammate Russell Wilson. As the former LSU star attempted to get up off the ground, he appeared to be in discomfort and hobbled towards the sideline.

This is a grim and all too familiar look for Seahawks fans. In safety Earl Thomas’s final season with the Seahawks, he too was taken off the field with a leg injury. It was reported sometime afterward that the former Texas Longhorn had suffered a broken leg. Hopefully, the news is not as dire for Adams, and he is back on the field soon.
