Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braylon Sanders went down on the practice field on Tuesday, according to reports out of training camp. Although he attempted to continue play after suffering an apparent leg injury, the second-year player ended up taking a cart off the field to the locker room.

The Dolphins snapped Sanders up after he exited the 2022 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. He made the roster after his first training camp and ended up playing three games as a rookie. He caught two passes for a gain of 17 yards.

The 24-year-old out of Ole Miss could now be facing a significant setback ahead of the 2023 season. Even if healthy, it’s unclear where Sanders would fit in the offense this year alongside team stars and new additions like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Berrios and Robbie Chosen (previously known as Robbie Anderson).

Sanders was the second-leading receiver on the Ole Miss Rebels’ high-octane passing attack in 2021. He hauled in 24 catches for 549 receiving yards, while bringing in four touchdowns. He averaged 22.8 yards per catch. In 2020, he grabbed 15 catches for 376 receiving yards, while bringing in four touchdown catches.

Dolphins sign Da’Shawn Hand following workout

The Miami Dolphins signed defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand following a workout Saturday, per Alain Poupart of Sports Illustrated.

The Dolphins also released undrafted free-agent defensive lineman Anthony Montalvo as a corresponding move.

Hand, the former Alabama standout, spent the 2022 season with the Tennessee Titans, appearing in one game — Week 1 against the New York Giants. The 27-year-old suffered a torn quad during that game and was placed on injured reserve, thus ending his campaign prematurely.

Hand spent the previous four seasons with the Detroit Lions after going in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He appeared in 29 games (11 starts), recording 52 tackles (39 solo) with 3.0 sacks and three forced fumbles. Hand missed several games with injuries, notably opening the 2021 season out of the Lions’ lineup for seven games due to a groin injury.

Jalen Ramsey provides update following knee surgery

Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey recently provided an update on his condition after undergoing a full meniscus repair in his left knee last Friday.

“Surgery went well,” Ramsey tweeted. “To my teammates & fans, thank you for the prayers and support!! I promise I will attack this rehab and be back stronger than ever… This will just part of the greater story down the stretch! Adversity is opportunity! God is so great! FIN5 UP!”

Ramsey, 28, was carted off the field during Thursday’s practice after injuring his knee. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Ramsey will be sidelined until December. That means that Ramsey, whom Miami acquired earlier this offseason from the Los Angeles Rams, will miss the majority of the 2023 regular season.
