Earlier this year, Spire Motorsports purchased Kyle Busch Motorsports and the facility to expand operations of its NASCAR Cup and Truck Series teams. Now we know how much they spent, at least on the building.

A report from the Charlotte Business Journal reveals that the acquisition of the new home of Spire Motorsports was anything but cheap.

According to the report, an “entity affiliated with Busch” made a sale on a building at 351 Mazeppa Road to Spire Motorsports for almost $14.5 million. That is according to Iredell County real estate records.

The building includes Busch’s trucks, the Rowdy Manufacturing chassis operation, as well as the CNC machine shop. So, really it was three businesses in one. The 77,000-square-foot facility will be a great asset for Spire Motorsports as they expand their organization.

Spire has been making some major moves in recent months. It is unclear if that $14.5 million price tag was just the sale of the real estate assets, the building and its contents, or if it was just part of the purchase price. Either way, on top of the $40 million Spire spent on the Live Fast Motorsports charter, they have put a ton of money into this new venture.

With three Cup Series drivers and at least two Truck Series teams, Spire Motorsports has a lot going on in 2024. I’m not sure they are done making moves, either.

Most recently, the team signed the final two crew chiefs for the Cup Series.

One of the remaining questions from Spire Motorsports in 2024 was who they would pick as crew chiefs for Carson Hocevar and Zane Smith. Two young rookies will need a good, strong leader to help them in the long Cup Series season.

For Hocevar, they have selected Luke Lambert. The two worked together at Legacy Motor Club this season and Lambert liked working with Hocevar enough to come to Spire with him.

Meanwhile, Stephen Doran is going to be paired with Zane Smith. That’s massive, as the two could end up being a formidable duo. Doran is excited to work with Smith.

“I didn’t know Zane personally,” Doran said, “but when I started to go through his career, I noticed he’s consistently won in everything he’s raced and made the most of every opportunity he’s had along the way. “Zane and I have talked a lot lately and I think this is going to be a great fit. Our personalities mesh well and I think communication will be great on and off the track.”

So, Spire is all set for 2024. This is going to be a new era for the organization. Having three Cup teams is hard. They were one of the smallest teams in the Cup Series. Now they are going to expand unlike any other team this offseason.
