In a recent sit-down interview with USA Today, ESPN superstar Stephen A. Smith dished out his best compliments and worst insults towards fans of the Dallas Cowboys.

The war on Dallas isn’t new for Smith, who’s turned Cowboys hatred an important limb of his on-screen persona. If there’s a Dallas playoff loss, you can expect Smith to waltz into the First Take studio the next day accompanied by a cowboy hat and celebratory cigar, ready to bask in the glory of another Cowboys shortcoming.

“Their fans are the disgusting, nauseating fanbase that gets on my last damn nerves,” he said of them, per USA Today, his latest jabs at his least-favorite fan base.

The interviewer then asked Smith if he thought Cowboy fans were “delusional” for believing that quarterback Dak Prescott should win the MVP trophy this season.

“I think Dallas Cowboy fans are born delusional. I don’t think there is anything that’s really sane about them,” said Smith, adding, “but that’s what makes them arguably the greatest fan base in sports.”

USA Today knew what a piece of gold that last comment was from Smith and replayed his “greatest fan base in sports” comment several times over again. For all his contempt towards the Cowboys, even Stephen A. has to tip his cap to the sheer passion from those fans in Dallas.

“Like I said, I know them, and it’s all in fun. They’re a lot of fun, I love going to Dallas and messing with them, said Smith, admitting that he’d love to do some shows live from Jerry World.

“I wish First Take would take shows there. I want to take my show there and do shows from there, what have you. I would love to do it. You know, one of my dreams is to do a show from the parking lot of AT&T Stadium during a tailgate party, before the game.”

The interviewer interjected to let Smith know he “better have some security” before trying to pull of such a stunt. “Sure I will,” Smith assured her. He then wrapped up his comments but noting that, at the end of the day, it’s all love deep down between Cowboy fans and Stephen A. Smith.

“But trust me, they could talk all the junk they want. They love me, I know they do, and I love them.”
