Amid the allegations by a woman that Dak Prescott sexually assaulted her in the parking lot of a Dallas-area strip club in 2017, the Dallas Cowboys have remained tight-lipped on the subject. However, talking to reporters at a PBR promotional event on Thursday, executive vice president Stephen Jones said that the allegations and Prescott’s subsequent lawsuit claiming extortion have no impact on his ongoing contract negotiations.

Jones noted that the team has discussed the matter with the star QB but says it remains a legal matter with no bearing on their negotiations with Prescott at this time. The local authorities are investigating the claims of both parties and will eventually move on or proceed to filing charges.

As for those negotiations, the Cowboys exec kept updates on their progress limited.

“Dak’s been willing to work with us,” Jones said. ‘We’ve had good discussions about him and his contract. He’s all-in in working with us, and we’ve had personal discussions with Dak as well. Other than that, that’s all we’ll say about that, our negotiations with him. We want to keep that private. Won’t get into timelines, but certainly a priority of ours.”

Despite limited movement so far in free agency, Jones insisted that the Cowboys have enough cap space to “cut and shoot” at will.

Dallas Police investigating claims of sexual assault against Prescott

Prescott isn’t having the quiet offseason he might have hoped for after filing a lawsuit on Monday, which claims he’s being extorted for $100 million. A Dallas-area woman is accusing Prescott of sexual assault from an encounter they allegedly had in February of 2017. Now, Prosper Police and Dallas Police are investigating both the claim of sexual assault and the claim of extortion involving the Cowboys star quarterback.

“Dallas Police Department received a report of a sexual assault the complainant said occurred on February 2, 2017, in the 8500 block of Stemmons Freeway,” a Dallas Police spokesperson told the Dallas Morning News on Wednesday night. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

The Prosper Police Department, which handles cases in Prescott’s area of residence, is investigating the quarterback’s extortion claims, the DMN confirmed on Wednesday. He filed the lawsuit claiming extortion for the amount of $100 million in Collin County on Monday.

Prescott’s attorney told the DMN that the encounter between the QB and the alleged assault victim was consensual. Though the incident technically occurred in Plano at XTC Cabaret, the Plano Police Department has not commented on a potential investigation at this time.

The woman’s attorney, Yoel Zwhaie, took his client’s case to the Dallas radio waves this week. During an interview on 105.3 the Fan, he said his client is considering filing criminal charges.
