We officially know both teams for the 2023 Ryder Cup. On Monday, the players for Team Europe were announced, setting the stage for the biggest event in team golf.

Several recognizable names will be on the roster for Team Europe this year. The squad is captained by Luke Donald, and it’s an absolutely loaded team for the 2023 event.

Members of this year’s Team Europe for the Ryder Cup include:

  • Rory McIlroy
  • Jon Rahm
  • Viktor Hovland
  • Tyrrell Hatton
  • Matt Fitzpatrick
  • Bob MacIntyre
  • Tommy Fleetwood
  • Sepp Straka
  • Justin Rose
  • Shane Lowry
  • Nicolai Hojgaard
  • Ludvig Aberg

After rounding out his squad, Donald provided a comment about this year’s team.

“I wanted a balance of youth and experience with my picks,” said Donald on Monday, per Golf Digest. “I’m very excited about the next few weeks. We’ll have a plan of action for success. We have some great talents and some experience in the 12. It’s a great make-up. I couldn’t be more happy.”

Team USA announced earlier this summer

Last week, the Ryder Cup roster for Team USA was announced. Captain Zack Johnson rounded out the 12-man roster with his captain’s selections to finalize the team.

Here’s a look at the American lineup for the Ryder Cup:

  • Scottie Scheffler
  • Wyndham Clark
  • Patrick Cantlay
  • Brian Harman
  • Xander Schauffele
  • Max Homa
  • Brooks Koepka
  • Justin Thomas
  • Jordan Spieth
  • Collin Morikawa
  • Rickie Fowler
  • Sam Burns

Surprise names to make this year’s squad include Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka. Thomas struggled this year, missing the cut in three of the four major championships and not making the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs.

Koepka won the PGA Championship and finished second in The Masters, making him a strong candidate. But many wondered if his leap to LIV Golf would prevent him from earning a spot on the team. Clearly, if LIV players can be as dominant on the course as Koepka proved at times, there’s going to be a spot on the team.

This year marks the 44th playing of the Ryder Cup, in which Team USA plays Team Europe. The event runs from Sept. 29 through Oct. 1 and will be held at  Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy.

Team Europe has dominated the Ryder Cup since 2002, winning nine of the last 13 events. The United States took home the last victory at Whistling Straits.
