Last week, Tee Higgins had his biggest game of the season for the Cincinnati Bengals in primetime against the Buffalo Bills. As he looked to build on that game, though, he injured his hamstring during practice on Wednesday.

Now, it’s likely he’ll miss the Bengals’ game against the Houston Texans on Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Higgins sat out Thursday’s practice as he dealt with the injury, and Rapoport reported he’ll be “week-to-week” going forward. It’s quite the blow for Cincinnati considering Higgins ranks second on the team with 328 receiving yards.

Last week against Buffalo, he hauled in eight catches for 118 yards in the 24-18 victory. His absence will likely lead to more opportunities for players such as Tyler Boyd and Andrei Iosivas, not to mention leading receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

Tee Higgins isn’t the only Bengals receiver dealing with an injury

The Bengals have had a few injury concerns at wide receiver this week. Chase injured his back in that victory over the Bills last week, and he missed practice on Wednesday as he recovered. He was back on the field Thursday — albeit in a limited capacity — and said he intends to play against Houston.

“In my head, I’m playing, you know what I’m saying?” Chase said after Thursday’s practice, via ESPN’s Ben Baby. “So until further notice and anything else, then we’ll see.”

Cincinnati got off to a rough start to the year, especially on offense, as Joe Burrow worked his way back from a calf injury. After a 1-3 record through four games, the Bengals have rattled off four straight wins, including victories over the Bills and San Francisco 49ers over the last two weeks.

Now 5-3, it looks like Cincinnati is gearing up for another push toward the playoffs. Even despite the rough start, Burrow could also be making a case for the MVP after finishing fourth in the voting a year ago. As of Thursday night, he was +900 to win the award, according to FanDuel.

Burrow addressed that hype earlier this week, acknowledging his desire to win the award at some point. However, he pointed out what all has to happen for him to win it, which is why he’s focused on winning more games.

“Everything has to go right for you to win that award,” Burrow said Wednesday, via the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway. “You usually have to have the best record. A lot of things play into it. I’d like to win one eventually. But it’s not No. 1 on my list for sure.”

Cincinnati and Houston will square off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
