Former Ole Miss safety A.J. Moore saw his 2022 season with the Tennessee Titans come to an end on Sunday afternoon. He just played five snaps on special teams in their Week 1 loss to the Giants and he won’t be getting any more work for the Titans the rest of the season. Tennessee announced his release on Sunday afternoon, per Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com.

He spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Houston Texans and signed with the Titans in 2022. Moore went on injured reserve after getting hurt against the Giants and re-signed with Tennessee this offseason, but he’s been dealing with injuries against and didn’t play in either of the Titans’ first two preseason games.

It’ll be interesting to see if he latches on with another squad across the league sometime in the near future.

The former Ole Miss standout had 69 tackles, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery during his time in Houston. His best season with them came in 2020, when he racked up 35 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.

During his time with the Ole Miss Rebels, Moore started every game in 2017. He racked up 48 tackles, including three tackles for loss during his senior year. He racked up eight tackles against the Kentucky Wildcats. In 2016, he finished sixth on the team with 42 tackles and also tallied 5.0 tackles for loss. In 2015, Moore recovered two fumble recoveries, while racking up 26 tackles, a sack, and two forced fumbles. That year, the Ole Miss defense ranked among the top teams in the country in a number of statistical categories (tackles for loss, interceptions, and takeaways). He also made his first career start with the Rebels once Tony Conner was injured.

During his high school career with Bassfield (Bassfield, Mississippi), he earned first team all-state honors from The Clarion Ledger, after racking up 132 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Moore also ran for five rushing touchdowns. He also earned Class 2A Defensive Player of the Year honors. He guided Bassfield to a 31-1 overall record in his final two seasons, capping the fantastic run off with back-to-back state crowns. According to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2014 cycle, he was ranked as the No. 1043 overall prospect in the country. A dynamic athlete, Moore also finished runner up in the 100- and 200-meter dash in the 2013 AA state meet.
