Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) quarterback Kenny Pickett received the vote of confidence Sunday from team legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw.

After Pickett led the Steelers to a 24-17 Week 7 victory over the Los Angeles Rams (3-4) Sunday, Bradshaw declared the 2022 first-round pick the “perfect quarterback” for Pittsburgh.

“I will tell you what, Pickett doesn’t throw for a lot of touchdowns, yet,” Bradshaw said on the FOX postgame show, via Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan. “In time he will. He is the perfect quarterback for this team. Very selfless type human being, he doesn’t mind handing the ball off. He’s great in the clutch and great under pressure, and you saw that again today.”

Pickett, statistically one of the most underperforming quarterbacks in the league entering Week 7, had arguably his best performance of the season in the win over the Rams. The 25-year-old threw for 230 yards on 17-of-25 passes to go along with a touchdown run. The Steelers’ 24 points are the second-most they’ve scored in a game this season.

For just the second time this season, Pittsburgh had both Diontae Johnson and George Pickens on the field together. The former was sidelined with a hamstring injury since Week 1. In his return, Johnson hauled in five receptions for 79 yards. Pickens led the team with 107 yards on five catches, his third 100-yard game of the season.

“It was great to have him back,” Pickett said of Johnson, via the team’s website. “I think you saw the effect he can have with both George and him out the outside. They’re two tough guys to cover.”

With the offense showing a glimpse of hope in recent games, it’s fair to question what the ceiling is if Pickett and co. can continue to churn out consistent performances. With the AFC tight at the top, they’ll certainly need more of what they got from Pickett in Sunday’s win moving forward.

“I think the sky’s the limit if we work and put it together,” Pickett said. “I’m not going to get into expectations of what I think that we should do or could do. But we’re on our way there so that’s good news.”
