ESPN has laid off one of its top draft experts in Todd McShay, according to a report from The Post. McShay and fellow draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. have led ESPN’s draft coverage for years.

McShay had been with ESPN since 2006, prior to being let go on Friday.

Steve Young and Suzy Kolber from the Monday Night Countdown crew and NBA analyst Jeff Van Gundy are among the former ESPN employees who were let go by the company on Friday. For a full list of ESPN employees who have been laid off thus far click here.

Todd McShay is widely considered to be one of the top NFL draft analysts. According to his ESPN bio, McShay provided “in-depth scouting information on college football players across the country, including the nation’s top NFL Draft prospects.”

He also worked as a college football analyst and was a sideline reporter for college football games. McShay was the director of college football scouting for ESPN’s Scouts Inc. He first appeared on ESPN’s commentator team for the NFL draft in 2009 and made his first appearance on ESPN’s main set for the draft in 2011.

McShay played quarterback Swampscott High School in Massachusetts from 1991-1994. He was also the backup quarterback at the University of Richmond from 1995-1997, before an injury cut his career short. The 46-year-old graduated from the University of Richmond in 1999.

ESPN lays off Monday Night Countdown hosts Suzy Kolber and Steve Young

As mentioned, ESPN laid off other prominent analysts and hosts on Friday, in addition to Todd McShay. The list includes Steve Young and Suzy Kolber.

Kolber announced the news on Twitter. She wrote: “Today I join the many hard-working colleagues who have been laid off. Heartbreaking-but 27 years at ESPN was a good run. So grateful for a 38 yr career! Longevity for a woman in this business is something I’m especially proud of. Next step- a project that gives back.”

Front Office Sports confirmed that ESPN also laid off Steve Young, along with Suzy Kolber. Young was a Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback with the 49ers. He worked for ESPN for 22 years.

In addition to Todd McShay, Kolber and Young, others who have been laid off by ESPN on Friday include Jeff Van Gundy, Jalen Rose, Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, LaPhonso Ellis, Joon Lee, Ashley Brewer, Vince Carter, Matt Hasselbeck and Jason Fitz. It remains to be seen who else will be let go on Friday.
