Even though he is technically a member of the media, Tony Stewart does not appreciate what he calls “click-bait” stories online. Especially when they are about him and his wife, Leah Pruett. The two NHRA racers are happily together. But a recent story put out information that the NASCAR legend has made clear is demonstrably false.

Tony Stewart did an interview with Autoweek recently and the driver talked about the potential of having children. The NASCAR champion and current NHRA alcohol dragster apparently didn’t appreciate the angle that the article’s headline took, almost making it seem like it was a done deal.

For those that were wondering if Smoke was about to become a dad at 52, pump the brakes a bit. There isn’t much fire where this smoke is concerned. Don’t take it from me, take it from Stewart himself.

“In these click-bait times, we often have to set the record straight,” Stewart tweeted. “Despite a headline in a recent article, [Lead Pruett] is not pregnant and I am not ‘freaked out’. Our lives are the same now as when we started this season. Thanks… carry on.”

This season in the NHRA has been good for Tony Stewart. He’s picked up some great finishes, and even a win. His wife drives a Top Fuel Dragster for Tony Stewart Racing. Pruett has 10 wins in the Top Fuel category as well as three a piece in Pro Mods and Factory Stock Showdown where she won a championship in 2019.

Tony Stewart could make a move up in class

As for Smoke and his aspirations on the dragways of America, he does have plans. Pruett is in the Top Fuel Dragster for Tony Stewart Racing. Right now, Stewart is in a Top Alcohol Dragster. It is the fastest NHRA class over a quarter-mile. Now, he might be moving up to his wife’s class over 1000 feet.

The Top Fuel and Funny Car races are done over 1000 feet. These cars are by far the fastest on the track each week. When they take off, it’s like a small explosion that sends them down the track. So, with his love for speed and engines, it is no surprise that Stewart wants to move up eventually.

At 52 years old, you could say Tony Stewart has a long NHRA career ahead of him. If John Force is any example, we could see Stewart drag racing for the next 22 years, at least.

Let’s just all agree to let Stewart and his family announce their plans from here on out. When and if he is ready to have kids, Smoke will surely let the world know.
