Even if he’s “retired” he isn’t really. Justin Marks is racing in the Trans Am Series at Mid-Ohio and will start on the pole. Marks also has a big NASCAR race coming up on the streets of Chicago with Kaulig Racing in the No. 10 Chevy. He’s preparing with some road course action in the Midwest.

Mid-Ohio is on the Truck Series schedule coming up. It also hosts plenty of other races, including the Trans Am Series. When he isn’t running things at Trackhouse Racing, Justin Marks is usually trying to get some laps in wherever he can.

After his pole-winning qualifying run, Marks has a good chance at winning the race this afternoon. The Trackhouse logo looks amazing on this car, by the way.

Qualifying was done in wet conditions and there were some drivers that chose not to take a qualifying lap, likely a deal with tires available and not wanting to wreck a race car before the race.

“We did good today. It was not very comfortable in practice, and we talked a lot about what changes we were going to make,” Marks said after the race. “They made some really good changes and made me feel like I was in the car that I needed. I missed the test session yesterday, so if we have a dry race tomorrow, we’re going to end up guessing on our setup, but we’ll do it with enthusiasm.”

Justin Marks getting a ride in Chicago

Cup Series drivers can’t race in the Chicago Xfinity Series race. However, Cup Series team owners? Well, they can do whatever. So, Justin Marks is suiting up for Kaulig Racing for a one-of-a-kind event in the Windy City. Marks is a guy that loves racing and he might have a good shot at a top-10 result.

Not only will Marks be in a good Kaulig No. 10, but he also has that Trans Am experience under his belt. He isn’t a street course racer. However, it was Mid-Ohio where Marks picked up his first and only NASCAR national series win in the Xfinity Series. Marks also has experience in sports car racing where he teamed up with Joey Hand and won some races in the process.

Before we get too excited about Justin Marks, let’s pump the brakes. This Chicago course is brand new for everyone involved and it could be a wreckfest. Qualifying is going to be so important to get out in front of the madness.

Marks has work to do at Mid-Ohio before he heads to Chicago. With the pole position, the Trackhouse Racing owner is going trophy hunting on Saturday afternoon.
