Report: Travis Kelce suffered high ankle sprain in non-contact injury vs. Vikings
A scary moment occurred in Sunday’s Chiefs-Vikings game when Kansas City’s star tight end, Travis Kelce, exited the game with an injury. But there was some positive news provided on his status.
Kelce was cleared to return to the game in the second half. He departed the contest with just over a minute to play in the first half.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that medical staff believed Kelce suffered a high ankle sprain in the game. While he’ll likely get further evaluation after the game, he was given the nod to return.
Kelce is obviously one of the most important pieces in Kansas City’s offense. It’s a good sign that he was cleared to return to action Sunday and we’ll see what the outlook is like for the future.
It was a non-contact injury that took Kelce out of the game. Kelce limped off the field and went to the locker room for X-rays on his right foot, according to Tracy Wolfson.
Entering Sunday’s game against Minnesota, the tight end was responsible for 17 catches for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Minnesota trolls Travis Kelce before Chiefs-Vikings game
Everyone seems so enamored with the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift relationship these days. But Minnesota used this opportunity to troll the Chiefs tight end prior to Sunday’s game against the Vikings.

Minneapolis unveiled two billboards ahead of the game, both light-hearted shots at Kelce. Not even Taylor Swift, Kelce’s “friend,” was safe. One billboard reads “Welcome Mr. Pfizer,” while the other states, “Beat Taylor’s Boyfriend.”
With Swift attending two consecutive Kansas City games, a lot of media coverage has focused on her appearances. Earlier in the week, the NFL released a statement defending its coverage.
“We frequently change our bios and profile imagery based on what’s happening in and around our games, as well as culturally,” the NFL told PEOPLE. “The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news has been a pop cultural moment we’ve leaned into in real time, as it’s an intersection of sport and entertainment, and we’ve seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport.
“The vast majority of our content has remained focused on the game, our players and variety of other initiatives, including our Toy Story Funday Football alt-cast, the international games and more.”
None of that became a problem this week. Swift did not attend Kansas City’s Week 5 matchup against Minnesota.
