Injured Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs watched the team’s win on Sunday in comfort as the defense held Bill Belichick’s squad to just three points without him. The former second-round pick is recovering from a torn ACL but seeing his team, specifically the defense, dominate, had to feel good.

Diggs took to social media during the game to boast about his teammates making history with the biggest scoring deficit in Belichick’s 29-year head coaching career.

“Cowboys D,” Diggs posted on X. He also tweeted some cheeky emojis, including a star and a side-eye smile.

Diggs was especially proud of his replacement at starting cornerback, DaRon Bland. The second-year DB was a nightmare for Mac Jones on Sunday. He snagged his second pick-six of the season, joining Diggs (2021) and Larry Brown (1995) as just the third Cowboys player to notch two pick-sixes in the same season.

The Cowboys defense may have been able to hold the Patriots to just three points, but it still has much more to prove. The New England offense hadn’t scored more than 24 points yet this season and already had a three-point offensive performance once this year.

A real test awaits the Cowboys defense this coming Sunday. In Week 5, they take on the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. On top of being a key conference rival, the 49ers are also one of the hottest teams on offense this year. They put up a season-high 35 points on Sunday against the Cardinals after three straight games with 30 points scored.

Cowboys GM Jerry Jones calls win over Belichick ‘surreal’

Dak Prescott led his squad to a 38-3 Week 4 victory, which was the biggest loss of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick’s career.

After the win, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones called the experience “surreal.”

“Surreal is what it is when you look at how well they have competed all these years, and so again that is the case where you have all the respect in the world for them,” Jones said.

“Couldn’t have pictured being able to have the score like this, but again, it’s kind of inspiring because again knowing what a great coach, what a great organization they’ve got. We’ll build on that. That did us some good.”

Thanks to some early help from the Cowboys defense, Dallas got off to a lead by capitalizing on mistakes by quarterback Mac Jones. A win on Sunday would have been the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach’s 300th regular season win.

“I would say that we will take it,” Jones added. “We will take it, and it will be that meaningful to us and is that meaningful to us even though we know he’d like to have few things different than they are with that team. It’s still beating them and getting the win from him. It’s got everything that’s good to go with it.”
