Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro injured his right hand on Sunday evening during the Bucks-Heat playoff matchup. The injury occurred when he was diving for a loose ball and landed awkwardly on his hand as he went to the floor.

Following the game, we got more details on the injury, and Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report relayed the information that Hero broke the middle and ring finger on his shooting hand. He’s expected to be out approximately 4-6 weeks.

This season, he’s been averaging 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. There have been plenty of injuries to go around in Game 1, as the Bucks lost superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to a back contusion. Milwaukee announced that he would be out for the rest of Sunday night’s matchup. The game was televised on TNT and the Heat won the game, 130-117.

Once he broke his hand, Herro was somehow still able to drain a three-pointer from the corner with the injured hand. He eventually made his way into the locker room at halftime.

The Miami Heat are the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference and the Milwaukee Bucks are the No. 1 overall seed. This matchup is the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Before leaving with his injury on Sunday night, the former UK star pumped in 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Game 2 of the series will be played on Wednesday night at Milwaukee. That game will be televised on NBA TV.

Tyler Herro just signed a big contract with the Heat this fall

Herro recently signed a four-year deal with the Miami Heat worth $130 million this fall.

Herro was named 2022 NBA Sixth Man of the Year last year and averaged 20.7 points per game for the Heat. He was an explosive scoring threat for the Heat last season — including eight 30-point games off the bench.

The 22-year old former Wildcats star was selected with the 13th overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, and secured himself an incredible payday for his scoring ability.

Herro is currently the third player on Miami’s roster currently with a $100 million-plus contract, joining Jimmy Butler and fellow Kentucky-alum Bam Adebayo. He’s steadily improved his scoring production over the years. When he initially came into the league, Herro only averaged 13.5 points per game as a rookie. He’s established himself as one of the better shooters in the league.
