UCLA guard David Singleton has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Atlanta Hawks, according to a report from Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress.com.

A key contributor for five seasons with the Bruins, Singleton played in 164 games in his UCLA career, which is the most in program history.

As a fifth-year senior this past season, Singleton averaged 9.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. His biggest weapon is his ability to shoot from beyond the arc. Singleton made over 40% of his 3-pointers in four of his five seasons, averaging a 43.4% clip for his career.

He had his highest volume of threes by far this past season at 172 attempts and didn’t miss a beat, making 42.4% of them.

There were three Bruins players selected in the draft, headlined by Pac-12 Player of the Year Jaime Jaquez Jr. being chosen at No. 18 by the Miami Heat. He said he thinks his time at UCLA will help him in the Heat organization.

“I think just because I came from a high standard at UCLA, as well,” Jaquez said. “Four years, Coach Cronin, he set a standard. He set a standard that we tried to achieve my entire four years there, and I don’t think it’s going to be any different when I get to the Miami Heat. They have a culture, and when you’re a part of a program or an organization with that high level of culture and winning, it’s your job to sustain that and obtain it. That’s what I’m looking forward to doing is continuing that legacy and continue that moving forward.”

David Singleton not the only Exhibit 10 signing for the Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks also signed NC State guard Jarkel Joiner to an Exhibit 10 contract in addition to snagging David Singleton in the aftermath of draft day.

The moves came after the team had two picks during the draft. The Hawks selected Michigan guard Kobe Bufkin with their only pick during the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft. In the second round, they chose Penn State guard Seth Lundy.

“The sample size on Bufkin is small, but there are strong indicators that he’s fundamentally sound with a high ceiling,” the RotoWire scouting report on Bufkin reads. “He’ll need some reps orchestrating an NBA offense, but his hustle will earn him minutes, and his shooting is already credible. The slashing should translate. Bufkin may be locked into a sizable role by the later stages of his rookie season and could become a reliable sixth man sooner than later.”
