Here we are in 2024 and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds have been updated, even if it is a little too early for this kind of thing. We are still a month away from seeing cars on the track at the Busch Light Clash and about six weeks from seeing the Daytona 500.

There isn’t a lot of change, but we have seen a few drivers have their odds improve. That is likely due to early bets on these drivers, as well as changes during the offseason.

It appears that Las Vegas is happy that Chase Elliott got shoulder surgery in the offseason. He saw his odds rise from 14-1 to 10-1. Joey Logano saw a jump from 18-1 also to 10-1 odds. Brad Keselowski rose from 22-1 to 14-1 odds.

Both Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman rose from 50-1 to 40-1. Finally, Erik Jones saw his odds rise from 200-1 to 150-1.

Early championship odds give a preview of 2024

The 2024 season is almost upon us. We have gotten through the New Year and are on the downhill side of the offseason in NASCAR. The NASCAR Championship odds aren’t as important this early in the year. We haven’t seen anything on the track.

While that is true, I do think we can parse some things by looking at the numbers above. Two Hendrick/Chevy drivers went up in the odds, both are coming off of injuries in 2023 that derailed their seasons. However, you also have two Ford drivers in Keselowski and Logano that also went up, as well as the two Toyota drivers in Wallace and Jones.

Ford and Toyota are both getting new body designs this year. The Mustang Dark Horse and Camry XSE might be what these teams need to take that next step. Toyota should be able to push better on superspeedways.

A lot of times, lines move because of the public. No surprise to see the public back Elliott. He’s the Most Popular Driver, 2024 is a redemption year for him. But what about these other drivers? What has made their odds improve since November?

The NASCAR Championship odds are going to continue to change throughout the year. Right now, way too early, it is the same characters we are used to seeing at the top. Will it shake out that way, though?
