Video of New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave being arrested Monday night in Louisiana emerged Tuesday.

Olave, who was arrested for reckless operation of a motor vehicle traveling 70 mph in a 35 mph zone at around 9 p.m., took responsibility for the arrest, telling the officer, “That’s on me. I was just trying to get home.” In the arrest video obtained by TMZ Sports, Olave later tells the officer he plays for the Saints, in which the officer replied, “And?”

Olave, 23, was booked into Kenner City Jail before being released at 11:30 p.m. The Saints have yet to publicly comment on Olave’s arrest, but said Monday they are aware of the situation.

According to a Kenner Police Department press release, this is Olave’s second speeding violation in the last few months. On Aug. 21, Olave was ticketed for driving 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Will Saints be without Chris Olave in Week 8?

Olave is in his second season after New Orleans selected him in the first-round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. Through seven games, he’s hauled in 39 receptions for 471 yards and a score. Olave suited up in 15 games as a rookie, coming down with 72 receptions for 1,042 yards and four touchdowns.

Despite being the Saints’ leading receiver, it hasn’t come without some frustration along the way. During the fourth quarter of the 31-24 Week 7 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Thursday, quarterback Derek Carr looked Olave’s way on a crucial third-down play. Carr’s pass landed well into the sideline with Olave nowhere near the ball. After the play, Carr appeared to be furious at Olave for seemingly running the wrong route.

Head coach Dennis Allen confirmed the following day that Olave made a mistake on the route, leading to Carr throwing the ball away.

“That’s one of those where Chris really got what’s kind of referred to as a bus ticket release …,” Allen said. “Derek thought there was a good chance to get a one-on-one shot with him on the outside line, which in our league if you get a chance to get a good player in a one-on-one matchup, that’s what a lot of this league is about. Chris didn’t run that route the way that it needs to be run. That’s what happened and we ended up having a throw-away there.”

The Saints (3-4) travel to face the Indianapolis Colts (3-4) in Week 8 looking to snap a two-game losing streak.
